Peninsula Children Shine for God's Glory! Posted 3.29.2010
This div will be replaced
Here is a 2 minute clip of the Bombo Pentecostal Church children playing on the merry-go-round at the Donela preschool on the church grounds.  This was the first time the equipment was being used.  The little boy staring had cried bitterly for a chance to play.  His mother looks on helplessly. We couldn't let him in coz if we did, we'd have to let everyone else in, which would be difficult to manage.   Some nearby kids decided to console themselves by playing on a weak branch of a broken down tree.  That is the closest they can get to have a go on playground equipment.

PS:  Last Sunday, we had over double the number of children we usually have for children's church.   They were attracted by the playground equipment.  If PCC kids hadn't helped us out with the property, we wouldn't have had  a place to install the play equipment.

Below is a detailed write-out to say thanks to the Peninsula children.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We would like to extend sincere gratitude to the children of Peninsula Community Church for the $1,200 they worked so hard for.  This donation has gone a long way in being a blessing to the children of Wobulenzi, through Wobulenzi Pentecostal Church.

With your donation, we have been able to rent a very much needed building right next to the hall in which the Wobulenzi church meets for Sunday service.  The building is a residential house with 5 rooms, a kitchen area, and spacious compound.   We were able to pay for a full year’s rent using your donation.  We were also able to renovate, paint, and fence the building.  Before doing so the place was totally inhabitable.

The building now serves as Wobulenzi’s branch of Donela School.  From only two children doing school in Pastor Alex’s garage last year, we now have 10.  Apart from the 10 Donela children, we host a children’s fellowship on Monday evenings which attracts all sorts of children on this property.  They come for sweets and popcorn, but also get the Word in the process.  God will raise up a Godly generation through these kids.

On the same property, we have installed playground equipment with the support of Align Ministries.  Believe me, the number of children that will gather for church is going to triple as a result of this freshly installed equipment.  Children come group after group, to just stare at the equipment through our very basic wire mesh fence.  The envy in their eyes as they watch Donela children play on the equipment is very evident.  One little boy wailed bitterly for a chance to get a ride, in vain.  If we let him in, we’d have to let in all the others, which would be difficult to manage. Parents are starting to investigate their children’s’ plea to change schools and join the one which has playground equipment.  This is an AWESOME opportunity to reach the unruly, dirty, poverty stricken, and often neglected children of Wobulenzi.  When they hear that after church on Sunday, there is play time on the swings and merry go round, they will come to church.

Attached is a clip of the Donela kids on the merry go round.  This was the first time the equipment was being used.  The little boy staring is the one that had cried bitterly for a chance to play.  His mother looks on helplessly.  Some nearby kids decided to console themselves by playing on a weak branch of a broken down tree.  That is the closest they can get to have a go on playground equipment.

Not only is the property you blessed us with a children’s facility, it is also the church premises during the week.  We keep all church property and music equipment there.  We also hold Bible studies, prayer meetings, leadership meetings, and choir practice at this premise.  Your donation came at a time when we had been asked to leave a one-roomed venue where all of this used to take place.  Not knowing where to turn next, we had retrogressed back into the pastor’s home.   We had also been holding Donela School in Pastor Alex’s garage, and the out-of-the-way location of it greatly hindered the growth and awareness of its presence.   Thank you PCC kids for making all of this possible.  Thank you Align Ministries for making this possible.

Watch this space, and you will see the powerful impact the playground equipment will have on our ministry in Kakooge and Wobulenzi.  There is none like it in these areas.  At Kakooge, the children in the community broke the padlocks we had put to guard against the equipment being used recklessly.  They did this twice in an attempt to get a ride, and would have continued to do so if we didn't replace the padlocks with strong chains. God will use this equipment to attract many children, and by so doing enable us to raise a Godly generation.
